Description
μ-Conotoxin BuIIIB is a neurotoxic peptide derived from the venom of the marine snail species Conus bullatus. It is a mammalian neuronal voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSC) blocker and a probe for studying ion channel function. μ-Conotoxin BuIIIB has been shown to block Nav1.3 with submicromolar potency, making it one of the most potent peptide inhibitors of this subtype reported to date. In addition, it is a potent inhibitor of Nav1.4. μ-Conotoxin BuIIIB is notable for its high affinity and specificity for these channels, particularly those found in muscle cells and the nervous system, making it a valuable tool for neuroscientific research.
